People always teach that one should respect their elders. This reminds me of something that happened to me early this year. I was at my grandma's house, and she said said something that was wrong. I told her I did not agree. My mom then got made at me because I was arguing with an elder. It was true, I was, but she was in the wrong. I then had to listen to my grandma talk to me for the next, like, 20 minutes on why I was wrong, and I wasn't aloud to stand up for my belief. (If anyone is curious she was saying that saying Nigger wasn't bad, and I was saying it was)
It shocked me that someone couldn't be wrong just because they hit a certain age. Would Hitler's actions be justified if he was just a little bit older? I'm not saying we shouldn't respect our elders; I am just saying that they should also respect us! Everyone should have respect for one another. However, being older than someone else shouldn't make you always right.
We as teenagers are often called stupid, careless, and annoyances. I say it is time for this to end. We need to fight back. Too many of us just turn the other way.
It is infuriating, how I have to say this. It should be common sense really. Please share this website and help it grow. We can be the generation that stops ageism in America!
